Authentic Memory in a Digital Age: Terraforming’s Contribution to ECHOES

Terraforming is a Serbia-based NGO dedicated to strengthening Holocaust education, countering antisemitism and antigypsyism, and promoting democratic values through innovative teaching methods. For more than two decades, our team has developed educational resources, exhibitions, training programs, international research projects, and digital materials that combine contemporary pedagogy with new media. We actively collaborate with museums, educators, researchers, Jewish communities, and civil society across Europe, and we contribute to international networks such as IHRA, ENCATE, EPNA, NIHE, AHO, and EuroClio.
Terraforming plays a key educational and methodological role in the ECHOES project. As co-lead of Work Package 7, we develop and deliver the Learning, Teaching, and Training Activities (LTTAs) for museum and cultural-sector professionals across several partner countries. Our team is also responsible for creating the project’s Guidebook — a practical resource that helps institutions understand how to integrate AI-driven survivor testimonies into meaningful, responsible, and engaging educational practice.
Building on our long-standing expertise in Holocaust education, digital pedagogy, and cross-sector collaboration, we contribute to the project’s methodological framework and help ensure that the AI tool is used with historical accuracy, ethical sensitivity, and pedagogical clarity. With extensive experience producing innovative teaching materials, exhibitions, workshops, and international projects, our team supports the consortium in shaping a responsible and impactful approach to AI-assisted learning.
Terraforming is also responsible for the project’s social media outreach. We coordinate a shared communication strategy for all partners, develop visual templates, manage the official project channels, and ensure coherent, timely, and accessible communication that brings ECHOES activities and results to broad and diverse audiences across Europe.
Through this work, we help museums and cultural institutions adopt new technologies in ways that support authentic remembrance, strengthen historical understanding, and engage learners in inclusive, human-centered ways. Our role ensures that the ECHOES AI-driven learning experience remains accessible, empathetic, and aligned with the highest international standards in Holocaust education.
